Gilcrux Village
Gilcrux is a quiet, pretty village on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Within easy distance of great walking and both North Lakes and coastal attractions. It is just 12 minutes to Cockermouth, the Georgian Gem town, 25 minutes to Keswick, the centre of the North Lakes, and 10 minutes from the coast. Map View
The Bar’n Bistro in the village centre serves excellent food and has a good wine list and an extensive range of whiskies and gins, all at very reasonable prices. Across the road, the Mason’s Arms serves large plates of pub grub and has a pool table.
Accommodation summary
You enter your private suite through your own porch, with logs, boot and waterproofs storage into the private sitting room.
The beautiful sitting room with its open log fire, Laura Ashley sofa and classic leather armchair is just for your private use. Curl up and relax in front of the fire with the TV or after a delicious meal at one of the two excellent eateries in the village.
Stairs to the upper rooms are shared only with your charming host, Charlotte, who will welcome you and serve your breakfast. She is on hand with her extensive local knowledge should you need any advice.
Your king size bedded room is luxuriously appointed with antique furniture and Laura Ashley soft furnishings, and has fantastic views over the Solway Firth. A romantic space to watch the sun set across the water and the Scottish hills. Thoughtful touches to make your stay extra special range from robes to wine and chocolates.
The large private bathroom is stylishly decorated and includes a full size bath, perfect for soaking tired muscles after a day on the hills, as well as a shower over.
Breakfast
A very extensive Continental breakfast is served from 7.30 to 9.30 or 7.30 to 10.00 at weekends. It includes croissants, fresh bread, cheeses, ham, yoghurt, fresh fruit,local preserves, honey, cereal, muesli, fresh fruit juice and a choice of hot beverages.
Full cooked Cumbrian breakfast, porridge, or smoked salmon & scrambled eggs are available at a small extra charge (must be pre-booked)

Charlotte and her adored Suki are your hosts and occupy the rear of the property. Suki is a very quiet and tranquil tiny Lhasa Apso who is non allergenic and does not shed hairs.
Unfortunately we are not able to accept dogs in the Suite rooms.
