Moorforge Folk Nights
Live folk nights are held in the Longhouse at Moorforge Viking Settlement at Gilcrux, on the first Friday of each month. With guest artists performing on occasion.

Seated around a blazing log fire, it is an intimate and informal experience for the audience, many of whom travel from all across Cumbria, as well as neighbouring counties and across the Scottish border.
Surely one of the most atmospheric venues in the country, it’s a bring your own bottle affair. Bring your instrument too for the jam sessions towards the end of the evenings.
Session at Moorforge
Folk’d Up Beyond All Recognition host the regular session and folk night. Their singer, Steve Wharton, is also the English Lake District World Heritage Site Storyteller.

Herdus, the house-bank, are a four-piece folk band, who love playing traditional British & Irish folk tunes and songs, original material and pop covers in a folk style. Described by RnR magazine as ‘Fiddle-driven, rock infused Brit-folk’, their enjoyment of music is quite infectious. Singalongs and dancing are inescapable.
Johnny Campbell, a repeat guest artist at Moorforge has ”a fast, ruthless, uncompromising sound which lends its influences from far and wide. Johnny is also a humorous storyteller and recalls stories of touring from twenty countries and counting where he’s plied his trade. Embracing traditional music from Northern England and sometimes frantic Bluegrass style picking, Johnny performs mostly self penned inspiring songs of protest, migration and debauchery.”
