Woven Landscapes, four week course
Course dates are Tuesday’s July 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th 2023
In these fun and relaxing four morning sessions Sue will teach you the basics of weaving on a card loom.
You will use a photograph or picture of a landscape as a starting point and learn how to make a design plan from this and then how to create a stunning piece of textile art using yarns, texture, colour and different weaves. You will learn how to finish off the work so it can be hung on the wall.
After the course you will be equipped with the skills to continue this process at home if you enjoy the technique.
Your tutor, Sue Rowland, will also discuss further techniques such as embroidery, embellishment which participants may want to use on their work either in the sessions or following the course at home.
Sue trained at Central School of Art specializing in textiles. She followed her degree with jobs in industry designing fabrics and ceramics for M&S and other high street stores. Sue is well known for her community print and textile projects in the East Midlands and more recently in Cumbria.
Sue has lots of experience of running workshops and is passionate about inspiring others to enjoy textiles and printmaking.
Refreshments: Hot drinks and biscuits are ‘on-tap’ throughout the session and lunch is available to buy from our on-site Cafe.
