Wild Families: Bats and Bears
Families are invited to embark upon a nocturnal RSPB Guided adventure in search of one of Haweswater’s most curious nocturnal creatures – bats!
Your RSPB Guide will lead your short adventure into Naddle Forest, as you search for nocturnal animals including roe and red deer, foxes, tawny owls and badgers.
As the sun sets, the bat detectors will come alive! Haweswater supports a diversity of bat species, all of which create different pop, click, slap and drip sounds, picked up by the specialist detectors and enthusiastically described by your Guide.
After this short circular walk you will return to Naddle Farm to listen to bats forage, and children will have the opportuity ask your RSPB Guide any questions the have about wildlife over hot chocolates and biscuits.
Children (and adults..!) are welcome to bring their favourite teddy bears on this adventure into Naddle Forest under the setting sun. This event is the perfect opportunity for children to discover how fascinating nature becomes at night, with teddy reminding them of their brave adventure when they return home.
A real adventure for families and teddy bears alike…!
