The Winter Droving 2019

The Winter Droving is a magical festival in Penrith that celebrates all things rural, traditional and fun. The event highlight is a torch lit procession through the town featuring fire, lanterns, masquerade, music and mayhem.
 
The rural Cumbrian market will kick off at 10am and there will be street entertainment, live music, races – The Drovers Cup, games and rides throughout the day to the evening!
 
The Winter Droving is bursting with fantastic live music and street performers across 5 stages plus vintage funfair, Penrith’s largest local food and craft market, The Angel Lane Chippies Drovers Cup, Dog’s Fancy Dress Competition, magical Fire & Light procession and much, much more!

Stages, performers and a big market – a BIG market! – featuring a new addition the Crafty Vintage market.
 
 
BIG FINALE – ELECTRIC SWING CIRCUS
 
They rocked the Winter Droving After Party in 2015 and we just had to have them back… Electric Swing Circus will be taking to the stage for the finale of the Torch Light Procession.

LINE UP
 
All day on the five stages (including the new DISCOTRACTOR) across town bands and street performers entertain the crowds…
 
The full line up of bands and acts includes… (deep breath)… Ponyland, Deatbeats, Logan and Manley, Bad Transmission, Supa and Da Kyrptonites, Rimski’s Piano and Handkerchief, Ask my Bull, Blast Furness, Hadrian’s Union, Wearequazars, BAAB, The Windy Bottom Boys, Gaita Band, Blue Jam, Nula Hula, Poiromaniac, Baybeat, The Flying Colours, Pete Moser’s One Man Band. There are new spectacles like Peddlars Pack plus regular and favourites such as Mary the Faerie and Dick Danger. A special mention should be made for Penrith’s own Eliza Gutteridge who reached the knock-out stage in ITV’s The Voice.
 
 
TORCH PARADE
 
Starting from St Catherine’s School Playing School at 6.30pm, the procession of drumming and street bands, giant animal lanterns and around 200 drovers carrying fire torches will lead the way to Great Dockray and Electric Swing Circus.
 
6.30pm: St Catherine’s School Playing Field
7.00pm: Market Square
7.15pm: Great Dockray
 
 
PARKING
 
Limited free parking is available at Ullswater Community College, Wetheriggs Ln, Penrith CA11 8NG
 
Penrith Council Car parks are available at Bluebell Lane, Mansion House and Sandgate, charging as normal.
 
Please note; parking is limited this year, please consider using Public Transport or walking if appropriate.
