Talk & Walk: Haweswater’s Red Squirrels
New for 2020, our Talk & Walk series explores the wildlife and habitats that make Haweswater one of the wildest corners of the Lake District
Join RSPB Haweswater to discover beautiful Naddle Forest, one of the Lake District’s most important safe havens for Red Squirrels.
Arriving at Naddle Farm, you can enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits whilst you settle in for a fascinating insight into the ecology of Red Squirrels. The illustrated talk will feature camera trap footage and photographs of these enigmatic animals, the perfect backdrop whilst your RSPB Guide explains more about how Haweswater’s management benefits the conservation of this threatened species.
Afterwards, you will embark upon an exclusive guided walk of through Naddle Forest, searching for signs of Red Squirrels, and hopefully spotting their bright red fur amongst the trees! You will have the opportunity to ask your RSPB Guide any questions you have about Red Squirrels, and the other wildlife of Haweswater on this unique event.
Binoculars will be available to loan for the walk.
