Poetry Reading and Open Mic

Venue: Outside In Centre Cafe, Beezon Rd, Kendal, LA9 6EL

This is a poetry reading by three local poets: Kelly Davis, Kerry Darbishire and Ilse Pedler They are all prizewinning and nationally recognised poets whose work has been published widely in poetry magazines and anthologies.

Kelly Davis is a poet and editor living on the west Cumbrian coast, Kerry is a songwriter and poet who lives in a remote Cumbrian farmhouse where much of her poetry is rooted and Ilse Pedler is a poet and veterinary surgeon living near Cartmel.

This event is to launch Ilse’s first poetry collection, Auscultation, which contains poems about her life as a vet, a mother and a stepmother and Kerry and Kelly’s collaboration Glory Days, an exploration of the different phases of a woman’s life and in particular the relationship of mothers and daughters.

The books will be available for sale on the night as well as tea and cake.

There are also several open mic spots available, sign up is on the door, so please come and read a poem of your own too.
