‘Standing out in the middle of the Solway it’s a different world, it’s a different place to be. It takes away all your life stresses. Thinking about the tides will take you away for days. It’s like pressing the restart button.’ Mark, Haaf net fisherman.
We’ve been on a journey around rural coastal Britain and we’ve met some astonishing people along the way – this production shares their stories. Tales of hope and loss, of seas and tides, of quotas and freedom. From Newlyn to Maryport, Silloth to Hornsea, One Side Lies the Sea is a musical journey through the brilliant communities that inhabit our coastline.
A musical collaboration between Pentabus Theatre, Theatre by the Lake and rural coastal communities in North West Cumbria, Cornwall and East Riding of Yorkshire.
Directed by Sophie Motley.
Venue: Theatre by the Lake, Lakeside, Keswick, Cumbria CA12 5DJ
Tickets: £10 – £26
