Needle Felt Animals Inspired by Illustrations
Be inspired by a wide range of wonderful illustrations of animals for children. Base your design on one of these or you may have an animal in mind – a much-loved pet or character you have come across. Using dry felting techniques you will blend your own wool to create subtle colours. You will learn to sculpt a beautiful model and be amazed by what you create.
Kate Reid trained at Central School of Art in London in textile design, which led to work as a freelance knitwear designer and textile specialist in a Lancashire museum. She now runs her own successful costume hire company, designing and making bespoke costumes for both theatre productions and film. Kate is an inspiring teacher and has lots of experience teaching wet felting and needle felting techniques.
The workshop fee is £70 with an additional material fee of £4/ to £6. The fee includes a tasty 2 course lunch with home baked bread and cake and refreshments throughout the day. We like to finish the day with a cup of tea and slice of cake. Eat outside or enjoy lunch by the wood burner.
This workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a traditional converted Lakeland barn at Browfoot Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay on the farm.
