Cunswick Scar and Scout Scar

Walk: Cunswick Scar and Scout Scar – magnificent limestone escarpments.

For: Adults

Duration: 6 – 7 hours.

Distance / Ascent: 12.5 miles/20 km, 1400 ft/427 m.

Grading: Strenuous

Description: We head first to Cunswick Scar, then to Scout Scar, a magnificent limestone escarpment, where if clear, we will be rewarded with views of the Lakes fells and Lythe Valley. From there we head to Helsington Church and Sizergh Castle, from where refreshments may be purchased. We then return via the River Kent and the former canal, back to Kendal.

Meeting Place: Kendal Town Hall.

Meeting Time: Sunday at 9:15am at the Town Hall.

Leader / Organisation: Nig Markham.

Equipment: Sturdy walking boots, waterproofs (jacket and overtrousers), warm clothing including hat and gloves, adequate food and drink.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs on lead as most of the walk will be through grazing land.

Max No People: 14.

Cost: Free.
