K2T Fundraiser – Concert in aid of rebuilding the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path

During Storm Desmond in December 2015, the much-loved railway path from Keswick to Threlkeld was extensively damaged – with 2 bridges missing and one badly damaged. So, it’s been closed since. However, the LDNPA has been applying for grants and has started a fund-raising appeal to get the route re-built.
Threlkeld Activities Association is enthusiastically supporting this appeal and, in particular, is staging a benefit gig, with all profits going to the cause on Saturday 14th April at 8pm.
All the artistes are giving their time for free, so we hope to make a significant sum for the cause.
The concert will feature Mazurka, Burnt Horse and Cukes.  Mazurka play an eclectic folk mix, including a large variety of British folk and further afield to French, Eastern European and Klezmer music. The instruments played include mandola, button accordion, concertina, fiddle, hurdygurdy, mandolin, bouzouki and guitars by the band members: Jon Trotman, Martin Sleath and Dom Clarke and Steve Strachan.
Burnt Horse is a duo of Pete Leeson and Angela Wakefield. (Pete is the lead of well-known local folk band Stooshie). The format in Burnt Horse will be 2 guitars or guitar and fiddle with vocals, playing ‘laid  back and rootsy’ folk!
The entertainment will begin with Cukes, a ukulele band based in Cockermouth. Cukes play a range of music from classical to country with everything in between, in fact, everything that sounds great on a uke! There may even be an opportunity to sing-along!
There will also be a raffle, so all-in-all we hope to have an entertaining evening and raise lots of money for the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path appeal at the same time! Come and support this worthy cause!
Saturday, 14th April 2018 at Threlkeld Village Hall, Threlkeld, CA12 4SJ.
Starts 8pm. Bar and Box Office from 7:15pm.  Tickets £10 (£5 under 18s) from the Coffee Shop. PO or on-line at Box Office Enquiries 07733 790308.
