Intro to Bushcraft Half-Day Course

Get back to nature, share a new experience and join us in our private woodland.

An introductory Bushcraft experience designed specifically for families. The session is based on the core principles of survival and is presented in a fun and informative way. A great way to spend quality time with all the family.

This half day session will be a hands-on experience of foraging, wild cooking and fire lighting.

The venue for the course is on a beautiful private country estate and takes place in a stunning oak woodland, with views of the surrounding mountains and out to the Duddon estuary. There is a central area covered with a large parachute so you can stay dry whatever the weather and also a composting toilet provided for your comfort throughout the day.

The session will start with a walk around the woodland, getting used to your surroundings and identifying potential resources.

You’ll be shown how to safely use a knife and have a go at feather stick which you’ll use for making your fire.

You will then have a go at building a fire using flint, steel and natural tinder. Adults can try out the fire bows! You’ll have a go at cooking mini pizzas over the open fire and boiling some water in a Ghillie kettle for making hot chocolate and brews.

A fantastic fun way to get out with the whole family, learn some new skills and enjoy the peace and tranquilly of the woodland and all it has to offer.
