Historic Carlisle Walking Tour
Join this fascinating 2.5 hour guided walk to reveal Carlisle’s heritage from Roman times. Wander along ancient streets, uncover the city’s hidden secrets, admire the medieval Guildhall and discover the historic significance of the Cathedral and St Cuthbert’s Church.
Our circular tour of the Historic Quarter, with 15 stops, gives you a fantastic overview of the under-rated role this border fortress city has played in British history. A perfect introduction to Carlisle, but also an excellent jumping off point for further exploration of key places, such as the castle, cathedral and Tullie House Museum.
The tours are led by Anna Gray, an experienced Blue Badge Tour Guide offering friendly and informative guided tours of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and all other areas of Cumbria. On Anna’s guided tours you will receive an in-depth understanding of the historical and cultural landscapes you visit, but delivered in such a way that the information is easy to digest and easy to remember.
