Haweswater Dawn Chorus

Start your morning immersed in the melodic birdsong of RSPB Haweswater under the specialist expertise of our Site Warden.

Join RSPB Haweswater Warden and expert birder, Spike, to discover the dawn chorus of Haweswater’s impressive array of birds in the woodlands, hedgerows and edges surrounding Naddle Farm.

Haweswater’s woodlands provide long-standing nesting and foraging potential for species such as Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, Green Woodpecker, Buzzard, Nuthatch, Great-spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper, and many other songbirds and birds of prey. The yaffling of Green Woodpeckers is always a great way to start the day!

Being the first on the reserve you will have the opportunity to look out for Haweswater’s other residents, including Red Squirrels, Roe Deer, Red Deer and Badgers.

When you arrive back at Naddle Farm you can enjoy a hot drink and pastry, while having the opportunity to learn more about Spike’s impressive 15+ years experience working on our 3000 ha reserve.

You are welcome to bring your own binoculars, however we will have sets available to use (included in price). You may also wish to bring a camera.
