Furness Abbey Fellowship Medieval Fair

Furness Abbey Fellowship welcomes all ages at our 7th Medieval Fair. We have something to suit everyone.
Our friends, the Iron Shepherds Living History Group, invite you to see their encampment and see their weaponry display.
Trouvere Medieval Minstrels will be performing a range of music including that of Hildegarde von Bingham.
Brother John will demonstrate the use of herbs and potions and Brother Patrick will demonstrate illuminated lettering.
Albert Harvey the alchemist will attempt to turn metal into gold.

And many other traditional crafts including basket making and wood turning can be seen.
Abbey Mill Cafe will be hosting their tea tent and Mansergh Farm provide delicious hog roasts.
A highlight of the day is the Silverband hawks who will be flying in the abbey and you will have the chance to see these beautiful birds at close quarters.
Add to this craft stalls, games and a gargoyle trail and you have great family day out.
English Heritage members free, Barrow Council Tax payers £2 / children free. Usual entry fees apply. Parking at Barrow Sixth Form and Blue Badge holders/drop off only at the abbey car park.
