Bothered and Bewildered
Losing your grip on life can be confusing… even amusing! Ulverston Outsiders present a bittersweet comedy, following one woman’s struggle with Alzheimer’s and its impact on her and her family.
Bothered and Bewildered is a comic drama that follows Irene and her two daughters as they begin the long journey in which they lose mum in spirit, but not in body. Irene’s past passion for romantic fiction blurs with reality as she discusses how best to write a memory book with her favourite author, the now-deceased Barbara Cartland. But along the way Irene discloses a long-kept family secret that she has not revealed to anyone else…
The Outsiders are Ulverston’s local amateur dramatic society. Their first play was performed in 1938 and, over the years, they have entertained the public with a variety of performances covering farce, thrillers, comedy and the classics. Bothered and Bewildered is written by Gail Young and this production is directed by Pat Timewell.
