Arlecdon – St Michael’s Church
Location : Arlecdon and Rowrah
Grid Ref : NY 052199
St Michael’s stands on the site of an ancient church, with the earliest records from during the reign of King Henry III (1216 – 1272). In 1241 it was given to Calder Abbey by the then Lord of the Manor, Sir John Le Fleming. The church that you see today is the result of major restoration work undertaken in 1903 1905, totally transforming the ancient building.
