Aquarium of The Lakes
‘The health of our aquarium family, which includes our visitors, staff and animals, is our top priority. In light of the most recent advice from Public Health England and the government, we will be temporarily closing the Lakes Aquarium effective immediately, until further notice.’
Where is it? : It is right beside Windermere Lake at Lakeside Pier in Newby Bridge.
We like it because : Lots of cool fish and marine animals including Salmon and Piranhas, Otters Lizards, and Snakes. They even have an under water tunnel where you can see huge Carp, Perch and awesome DIVING DUCKS!!!
What’s it all about? : The Aquarium of The Lakes is a huge aquarium with lots of mini zones in it, it has everything from fish you can see in the lakes nearby and the local coast, to fish, reptiles and mammals from all over the world like Asia, Africa and the Americas. There is also a virtual dive room where you can see computer generated creatures such as sharks, Crocodiles and hippos.
Also look out for : They also have a cafe that looks right out over Windermere (the lake) so you can see the boats coming and going while you eat.
Tips : You can arrive by the brilliant Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway which stops right by the Aquarium. Or get on a Steamer from here to explore the lake on the water.
How much is it? : It is free for under 3 year olds, £5.95 between 3 and 15 year olds, £8.95 for grown ups and £7.50 for seniors. There are discounts for disabled people and it’s cheaper if you book online.
