Bowness / Windermere Ferry :
Bowness-on-Windermere / Far Sawrey
The Windermere Ferry is the only ferry in the Lake District that takes cars as well as foot passengers and cyclists. (For foot-passenger-only boats on Windermere and other lakes see Lake Cruises and Boat Trips)
It runs all year except for Christmas and Boxing day, and takes about 10 minutes to cross the centre of Windermere from Ferry Nab just south of Bowness to Ferry House at Far Sawrey. The service is run by the Highways Dept of Cumbria County Council.
The ferry was last serviced in April 2021 so should be running as usual (June 2021)
Owing to the current situation we recommend that you check the website of this business before travelling for up to date information on what restrictions are in operation at this venue. Most venues need to be pre-booked and some will have reduced hours and/or timed-ticketing.
Please check this link for times and fares- Timetable & Fares (external link). June 2021
