Navigation in the Lake District
If you’re used to walking with groups or in lowlands and you want to progress to the next level then the best thing is to take a navigation course. There are courses for everyone, from complete beginners to those with prior knowledge, with lengths from one to two days.
All course are instructed by mountain professionals with extensive experience leading groups and navigating in the mountains. If you are getting to the stage where you’d like to walk by yourself, with your family, or even leading a group, then navigating well is the first step.
Most providers will supply you with a map and compass for the duration of the course, but you will be expected to have the necessary outdoor equipment such as boots and waterproof clothes. For more information, please see our providers below.
