14th April 2010 - LNER Peppercorn Class A1 60163 Tornado
On wednesday 14th April people in Cumbria were treated to a special event, when the 60163 Tornado steam locomotive travelled along the Cumbrian coast line via Barrow-in-Furness and Whitehaven to Carlisle, then over the Carlisle to Settle line, before returning to its starting point at Crewe. 60163 Tornado, is a a main-line steam locomotive built 1994-2008 in Darlington, and the first such locomotive built in the United Kingdom since Evening Star, the last steam locomotive built by British Railways, in 1960.
