Tradition has it that there has been a church on this site since 1111 AD. The main part of the present church of St Mary with Holy Trinity was rebuilt in the 19th Century, but a Norman arch in the porch and the Elizabethan tower survive.

There are 18 stained glass windows - by artists including Powell of Whitefriars, William Morris,
Heaton Butler and Bayne, Shrigley and Hunt, Abbott & co, and William Wailes.
