'Oxenholme The Lake District' railway station, located just outside Kendal, is a junction between the West Coast Main Line and the Windermere Branch Line.
The TransPennine Express service to Windermere stops at Kendal, Burneside, Staveley and Windermere. A 10 minutes walk takes you into the village of Oxenholme. A local bus service runs frequently from outside the station into Kendal. A taxi rank is also situated on the station forecourt.
The station has a strictly vegetarian buffet on the northbound platform.

In February 1965, Pc George William Russell was shot and fatally injured at Oxenholme railway station. On 21st June 2007 a plaque in his honour was unveiled at a ceremony at the station.
On May 27, 2006 the station was the scene of a murder, when a young man was stabbed aboard a Glasgow-Paignton train.
On 23 February 2007, the Grayrigg rail crash happened between Oxenholme and Tebay on the West Coast Main Line.
