In Cumbria we are lucky in that as well as the Jennings brewery, which supplies a variety of beers to many of the pubs and hotels in the area, we also have about 20 microbreweries, some of which have won a variety of awards by the local branches of CAMRA - the Campaign for real Ale.
Listed below are links to these microbreweries, and the pubs, inns and hotels where you can get real ale.
The Cumbrian CAMRA groups have published the 200 page "Cumbria Real Ale Guide", which lists all the 581 places that sell real ale.
A variety of Beer festivals also take place throughout the year where you can sample these many local ales.
