Construction started in April 2006 of a new 3 mile bypass to dual-two lane standard to the south of Temple Sowerby, as part of the ongoing works to complete dualling of the A66 route between Scotch Corner and Penrith.
The village has been waiting since the 60s for this to happen!
Sunday 16th September - walk along the new bypass.

The village school children get last view of bypass before opening
Traffic flow on A66 stopped at either end for about 30 minutes while the
existing road to Temple Sowerby is disconnected and redirected onto bypass.
