Instinct Training, based in Cockermouth, Cumbria, are specialists in the design and production of interactive multimedia safety and technical training courses on a wide variety of subjects. Material is available on CDROM, and also online through the internet.

The Company started some 20 years ago, in the early days of interactive laser videodisk, then moved on to CDROM based training courses. In late 2007 we introduced an online version of the safety series, with titles such as Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Chemical Safety etc.

The VisitCumbria website was first created in July 1997, when I wrote a basic website for my small business in Cockermouth - Instinct Training, and added a few pages to this stating what a nice place Cockermouth was. Since then the site has grown from a few pages on the Company website to over 1000 pages, covering the whole of Cumbria, with contributions from many other people who care about our County.

Database programming skills have been learnt for the training software web-based project, which has given me ideas and made advanced techniques available to improve the VisitCumbria website, with new features such as listings of nearby places, google mapping, and an accommodation database. I have also created and manage the official website for Cockermouth - www.cockermouth.org.uk.
