Great Expectations, by Hugh Leonard, Adapted from the Novel by Charles Dickens
Director: Adam Morley
Consultant: Gerald Dickens (Great great grandson of Charles Dickens)
Producer: Claire Bibby
Baroque Theatre Company presents “Great Expectations”, a stunning theatrical experience, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth. Young Philip Pirrip, known as “Pip”, helps the escaped convict Abel Magwitch and sets in motion a train of events that will affect his entire young life. Taken under the wing of the eccentric Miss Havisham, Pip falls in love with her ward, the chilly Estella, and determines to be a gentleman. Receiving money from a mysterious source, and expecting more, Pip renounces his humble past life and feels sure he will achieve his aim – and then the true identity of his benefactor is revealed and a painful process of moral education begins for Pip. Bringing to life all the vivid characters of the original and conveying the story with great clarity, atmosphere and theatrical flair, this production of Charles Dickens’ most popular novel will be exciting and haunting.

Great North Swim in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust
From 22- Jun-2012 to 24- Jun-2012 at Low Wood Marina , Windermere LA23 1LP
The Great North Swim is the biggest open water swimming event in the UK in the stunning location of the Low Wood Marina, Windermere in the Lake District.
Safe in the knowledge that expert kayakers and safety boats are with you every stroke of the way, whether you\'re new to outdoor swimming or highly experienced, please join us at what promises to be another fabulous swim challenge.
The 2-mile swim kicks off the weekend on Friday 22 June with the 1/2 mile and one mile swims taking place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June.
Here\'s how you can swim with Team CF in the 2012 Great North Swim:
1) entries are now open but will fill quickly so please book your place online now, then let us know and we\'ll ask you to please raise whatever you can for us!
You can also select \'Cystic Fibrosis Trust\' when you enter, that way the event organisers will confirm to us that you have a place!
2) we also have a small number of charity places available in return for your pledge to raise at least £150 for us. But, the more people who get their own places whilst entries remain open, the bigger the splash Team CF can make in June.
It\'s a truly exhilarating event that will take your breathe away for its surroundings as much as the swim itself.
