'WWW.VISITCUMBRIA.COM' in an independent personal guide to Cumbria and the English Lake District by Julian Thurgood, and is not sponsored or endorsed in any way by Cumbria Tourism, whose official site is at www.golakes.co.uk.
The owner of this website is not the owner of any of the places of interest mentioned in this guide.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of this site, I cannot completely guarantee the accuracy of the content, so visitors should always check the official website or contact the establishment by phone or email before making a special visit.
Likewise external links are put in in good faith that they will provide suitable extra information. If any inaccuracies are found, it would be very helpful if they were reported back to me.
| If you want information about Cumbria, or want to request any printed literature, please contact Cumbria Tourism, or any Cumbrian Tourist Information Centre. Links to all these are on the TIC page, which contains addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. |
Please do not ask us for help in researching your family history. We get many, many requests, but we are not genealogists nor do we have the time to do the research.
| If you want to use any of the 6000 or so photographs
for your own purposes, please do so, and if you use them in a website, please include a credit
or link to this site. If the photos are credited to another photographer - ask them first - or ask me to ask them.
Photos taken since March 2002 are digital at a resolution of 2048x1536 or higher, and the originals can be supplied. Most of the older pictures are scanned from negatives [with a Nikon Coolscan 3] to a resolution of 1947x1296. Some are scanned from prints for which I have lost the negatives. None of the old photos of people are mine, so please don't ask my permission to re-use them. From my understanding, copyright expires 50 years after the death of the photographer, when the material becomes public domain. |
