Coniston Launch runs boat trips and special themed cruises on Coniston Water, which retains the true qualities of peace, remoteness and adventure that will appeal to the true ‘laker’. Here it is possible to escape for a while and enjoy the Lake District that has almost ceased to exist.
All Coniston Launch services include a live commentary. Winter sailings are also available but with a restricted timetable. You may also join and depart the launch at any landing stage, space on the boat permitting.
Coniston Launch Services & Cruises
Coniston Launch Northern red route – 45 minutes calling at, Coniston Inn, Torver and Brantwood, (once the home of John Ruskin, then back to Coniston jetty.
Coniston Launch green route – 90 minutes which are our Southern lake themed Cruises. Swallows and Amazons visits the special places connect to Arthur Ransome and passes the sites used for the two Swallow and Amazons films. The story of Donald Campbell and his attempt at the Water Speed Record in 1966/7.
Coniston Launch Yellow Route – 60 minutes to the south end of the lake. Discover ‘Wild Cat island’ of Swallow and Amazons fame. Calling at Torver, Sunny bank and Brantwood.
There are special interest cruises which cover the route and follow the history of Donald Campbell’s attempt to break the World Water Speed Record in 1966/7. Another special interest cruise explores the locations used by Arthur Ransome in his much loved ‘Swallows and Amazons’ children’s books.
