Cockermouth is probably best known as the Birthplace of one of the most famous English poets, William Wordsworth, with Wordsworth House probably being the town's most popular visitor attraction.

Also Cockermouth has its own brewery - Jennings - which makes excellent real ales, and supplies many of the pubs in and around the town, as well as across Cumbria and beyond. The Jennings Brewery also offers a guided tour and a chance to sample the fine real ales.

Cockermouth has a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs.
