Upper Denton Church

A very humble building, built from Roman stone, and includes a re-used Roman arch. Pevsner describes the church as being Norman, with some Saxon elements, constructed from Roman masonry removed from the nearby fort at Birdoswald.
It can probably claim to be the oldest standing building in Cumbria.
