Owing to the current situation we recommend that you check the website of this business before travelling for up to date information on what restrictions are in operation at this venue. Most venues need to be pre-booked and some will have reduced hours and/or timed-ticketing.
We like this because : Taffy is kind, patient and interesting and is just full to the top with stories and riddles. He was the first Storyteller Laureate – which is very important – and he’s met the Queen and been given an award (MBE) for his storytelling.
What’s it all about? : Taffy is an amazing storyteller, his whole job now is to collect and tell stories. Taffy has a lovely garden in the middle of Grasmere village where he does special storytelling performances at certain times, usually Bank Holidays. There are often musicians and jugglers too and in the evenings there are fires and torches. To see what’s on in the garden click here for Taffy’s website. During school holidays Taffy will lead story walks occasionally, or by request.
Also look out for : There’s a great new book by Taffy “Tales & Trails” which have stories to fit in with walks around Grasmere. If you’re coming on holiday to this area get this before you come. It’s only just out at Easter 2013 so you need to contact Taffy first. You can also get Taffy’s other excellent books Taffy’s Coat Tales and Cumbrian Folk Tales through his website.
Tips : Taffy also does storytelling performances around the country so also check his Tour Schedule
How much is it? : Garden events at Grasmere are £3 for children, £5 for grown ups and £12 for a family ticket (that’s 2 grown ups and 2 children)
