Location : Langwathby

Lathwathby is a large village with a village green and much open space. Children still dance around the maypole on the third saturday in May. The station was used much in the past for sending potatoes to Lancashire towns, the Co-op being the best customers.
The main station building is now the Brief Encounter Cafe.
The main station buildings at Langwathby are now in use as the Brief Encounter Cafe. The little station building below has recently been renovated by the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Railway.
Within walking distance is Eden Ostrich World, where you can meet ostriches, along with a variety of other farm animals. St Peter's Church, built in 1718, but with some parts inside dating from medieval times, is worth a visit.
A mile north east of Langwathby is Little Salkeld. The station here is now closed, and is a private house, but you can visit the working Little Salkeld Mill, and Long Meg Stone Circle, one of the finest stone circles in Cumbria.
There is free car parking at the station.
