Tullie House - [pic N0700]

Journey back in time to the Roman occupation and uncover the mysteries of Hadrian's Wall. Travel through the dark ages and grind corn as the Celts did. Experience the highs and lows of England's Civil War. Voyage through the Debatable Lands - home of the Border Reivers, marauding family gangs whose terrifying family feuds left many a Border widow bereaved. Visit the middle ages and return by Edwardian railway carriage. Travel through a whole day in just 8 minutes in the wildlife dome.

Tullie House - the Art Gallery
The Art Gallery.

The art gallery is the best equipped in the North of England, featuring work by artists from tomorrow's hall of fame, whilst the old Tullie House contains a large number of Pre-Raphaelite paintings and drawings.

Sir Edward Burne-Jones' drawings of some of the stained glass windows at St Martin's Church Brampton are on display in the old Tullie House.

The Millennium Gallery - Listening Wall.

The Millennium Gallery, opened in summer 2001, under the road outside the Museum, contains fine and decorative arts, a good collection of local minerals and archaeology, and the 'listening wall' in which are fitted many small speakers, where you can listen to the voices and thoughts of local people. The other side of the listening wall is the new subway which links Tullie House to Carlisle Castle.

There is a restaurant, gift shop, and herb garden.
