'Ambleside - Colwith Force'

Colwith Force on the River Brathay drops in several stages down a total height of about 40 feet.

The River Brathay drains all the hills in the Langdale area, and joins Little Langdale Tarn to Elterwater, then on to the top end of Windermere.

A little further along the Brathay is Skelwith Force, relatively low in height (about 17 feet), but thrusts all the water through a fairly narrow gap, making an impressive curtain fall (especially after rain).
