The Windermere Ferry is the only ferry in the Lake District that takes cars. It runs all year except for Christmas and Boxing day, and takes about 10 minutes to cross the centre of Windermere from Ferry Nab just south of Bowness to Ferry House at Far Sawrey. The service is run by the Highways Dept of Cumbria County Council.
